Rock of the Marne!

I'm amazed!  Very humbled too, but that's not the point.

What surprises me are two things.  One is the fact that an amazingly beautiful plate has survived 65 years of being brought across the Atlantic and storage in many homes, including my parent's cellar for 40+ years.

But, I suppose I shouldn't be that surprised, seeing as the plate also survived repeated bombings by WWII Allied forces.  Oh, ya, that's the other thing that amazes me.  The history of this plate.  My Dad brought it home after picking it up from the disheveled shelving of Hitler's summer home in Berchtesgaden.  He recalls picking it up, blowing off some hairs and packing it away.  I wonder if he had any idea how long it would live.  I'll have to ask.  I don't know much about those days, which doesn't surprise me at all.

Can Earth Day be a federal holiday?

The boob-tube is violently screaming to keep my attention.  Jealous that it's no longer the deity it was before PCs came of age!

So, it tries flashing up pictures of beautiful fish in a tank, then leads to informing me that Earth Day is coming.

Hmm, I mostly spend my time on Earth.  I don't know how I didn't know this day was coming (or what it's truly for) but I am sure that if it were a Holiday with a day off from work, I'd have all the fixins' for a BBQ already bought!
